＜原著＞抗BUdR monoclonal抗体を用いた脳腫瘍の
生長解析とその臨床応用

抄　録：25例の脳腫瘍患者に bromodeoxyuridine (BUdR)を手術時に投与し腫瘍のBUdRの取り込み即ち Labeling Index (LI)を求めた。21例では摘出標本を抗BUdR抗体を用いて免疫組化学的染色を行いLIを求めた。5例ではflow cytometerを用い，BUdR量及びDNA量を分析しLIを求めた。その結果，glioblastoma multiforme 10.4-12.9%，astrocytoma 2.6-3.5%，meningioma 0.7-7.2%，neurinoma 0.1-0.2%，hemangioma 0.1%，hypothalamic hamartoma 0.1%，malignant lymphoma 2.8%であった。meningioma 13例中2例は高値で短期間に再発し，CT film より求めたdoubling timeは各々54日，40-95日と短かった。LIから計算したdoubling timeは各各3日，65日であった。
　組織学的悪性度とLIとはおおむね相関していたが，組織学的に良性のmeningiomaの中に増殖が速くLIも高いものがあることが示された。LIは腫瘍の再発及び予後を予測する上で重要な指標になると考えられた。

Cell Kinetics Studies on Brain Tumors with Bromodeoxyuridine Labeling

Twenty five patients with brain tumors were given intravenously bromodeoxyuridine (BUdR) at the time of surgery to examine the uptake of BUdR by tumor cells. In 21 cases, BUdR labeled cells were detected by immunoperoxidase staining using anti-BUdR monoclonal antibody, and BUdR labeling indices (LI) were calculated. In 5 cases, the LI was determined by flow cytometer. The LI were 10.4 to 12.9% for glioblastoma multiforme, 2.6 to 3.5% for astrocytoma, O.7 to 7.2% for meningioma, O.1 to O.2% for neurinoma, 0.1% for hemangioma, 0.1% for hypothalamic hamartoma, 2.8% for malignant lymphoma. Two out of 13 meningiomas had high LI and exhibited early recurrence. The tumor doubling times in these two patients, calculated from serial computed tomographic scans, were 54 days and 95 days, whereas the doubling times estimated from the LI were 3 days and 65 days, respectively.
LI correlated closely with histological malignancy. In addition, some histologically benign meningiomas had a high growth rate and high LI. The LI may improve the prediction of recurrence and prognosis in some patients.
