Health Care Program for Patients with Down Syndrome

Abstract: It is important to understand the medical complications that accompany Down syndronle in order to provide effective health care for children with Down syndrome. A health care program, which was developed in our special clinic for Down's syndrome, is presented. It involves a clinical checklist completed at each milestone in their life. This list pays attention to the medical complications which occur at each age. In order to check these medical complications complete blood counts; thyroid screenings; liver function tests; vitamin A, carotene, and zinc level determinations; immunological, ophthalmological, otolaryngological, cardiological, orthopedic, psychological and neurological evaluations were checked.
