コカイン中毒死の一例

41歳男性がホテルの一室で死亡していた。死者の鼻孔はびらん状に発赤していた。白色粉末入りと思われる空パケ９個がホテルの机の上に発見された。解剖の結果，肺の浮腫とうっ血が著明で，気道内に多量の泡沫粘液を入れていた。GC/MS法によりコカインとその代謝物が心内血から致死レベル以上，胃内容と尿からさらに大量検出された。死者は９個のパケ入りコカインを鼻から吸入し，かつ服用し，急性コカイン中毒死したと考えられた。

A Case of Fatal Cocaine Intoxication

A 41-year-old man was found dead in a hotel room.The external nasal orifice of the deceased was reddened and eroded.Nine almost empty packs containing traces of white powder were discovered on the table.Autopsy showed severe pulmonary edema and congestion.The air passage contained profuse foaming exudate.By GC/MS method cocaine and its metabolites were detected in excess of lethal level in the cardiac blood and in much larger quantities in the gastric content and urine.The deceased was considered to have sniffed and then ingested nine packs of cocaine powder and to have died from acute cocaine overdose.
