『カンタベリ物語』総序文の中でチョーサーが初めて使用した
ラテン語とフランス語の研究（２）

　これは本紀要第一巻に書いたチョーサーが『カンタベリ物語』総序文ではじめて借用したラテンとフランス語の研究の続きである。借用語数59のうち、１.〜26.は既に書いた。今回は残りの全部 27.〜59. を扱う。前回同様チョーサーの借用月年代1386年をフランスにおける初出年と比較し、借用の早さ、借用の文化的背景を論じる。またフランス語は大陸のそれと英国のそれとを区別し、借用の意味のちがいを明らかにする。
　なお本研究は1984年度文部省短期在外研究員として連合王国マンチェスター大学及びフランスポー大学において７月から９月までの二ヶ月間行った研究の成果であることを報告する。

which Chaucer first used in the General Prologue to The Canterbury Tales

This is the second installment of the study of the Latin and French loan words which Chaucer first used in the General Prologue to The Canterbury Tales. Out of the 59 words, 1.〜26. have already been treated in the initial number of this Bulletin. The remaining 27.- 59. are treated here. The date of Chaucer's first borrowing is compared with that of the first recorded appearance in the French language. The rapidity and the cultural background of borrowing are elucidated. Central French and Anglo-French are also distinguished and the nuance of borrowing is explained. ( Concluded )
