受験機会の複数化の確率・統計的考察

今日、国立大学の入試改革はやや落ち着いた観があるが、入試改革に関する問題は、 国民の多くから関心を寄せられており、マスコミにも絶えず取り上げられている。各方面から提出された正当な問題点には、前向きの姿勢で取り組むと同時に、正しい情報を提供することも大学の役目の１つであろう。
昨年の本紀要の中で、「入試に関する諸問題の数学的考察」と題して、入試に関連したいくつかの問題を数学の問題として取り上げ、極めて明解に論じたが、社会一般から見ると、まだ解けていない疑問点が多く、とりわけ複数化の問題は難解のようである。
そこで本論文では、受験機会の複数化に関連した問題を、入試の「正確さ」としいう観点から考察した。複数化によって入試の精度がよくなることは、専門家には容易に推測されることであるが、一般の人には必ずしも理解されていない。最初に定性的に論じ、次に簡単なモデルを想定して、定量的に考察した。そして最後に、本学でのデータこ基づいて、複数化の効果を検証した。

on the Pluralization of Chances
to Apply for National Universities

Today the reform of entrance examination in national universities has apparently been brought to an agreeable ending. However this is a matter of increasing interest for the great many people of our country and has always been taken up by journalism and other mass media. It will be one of the major tasks of the university to tackle positively with the judicious proposals raised up from every point of view and, at the same time, to provide sound informations for the applicants and for the public in general.
Last year in this journal under the title of a mathematical consideration of some problems in entrance examination, we took up and discussed quite distinctly, some problems in connection with entrance examination from mathematical angle. In the sight of the world in general, there seem to be many problems still to be solved, and above all, the merit of the pluralization of chance for the application seems to be difficult to understand.
So in this essay' I took up some problems in connection with the pluralization of chances to apply for national universities from the view point of "accuracy". The enhancement of precision in entrance examination by an introduction of the so-called pluralization is almost intuitively self-evident for the expert, but this fact is often misunderstood by the general public. So at first I discussed from qualitative angle the matter, then analysed from quantitative angle using some simple assumed examples. Then at last I ascertained the merit of the pluralization based upon some data in our college.
