青酸ガス吸入による中毒例

　1991年１月22日49歳の貴金属加工師が自宅居間で死体となって発見された。現場には白色粉末が一面に飛び散っていた。司法解剖の結果、死者は青酸カリウムを服用したのではなく、気化した青酸ガスを吸入し中毒死したものであることが明らかとなった。事件発生の数時間前には46歳の妻が居間で意識を失い、救急車で病院に搬入されていた。患者は著明な代謝性アシドーシスを呈したが、数時間後に意識を回復した。脳波では汎性アルファ波が１年半のあいだみとめられた。妻は夫と口論中脅かすつもりで青酸カリウム500g入プラスチック容器をテーブル板に投げつけたことを告白した。

A Case of Cyanide Poisoning by Inhalation
of Vapoured Hydrocyanic Acid

On 22 February l991, a 49-year-old goldsmith was found dead in the living room. At the scene plenty of white powder was scattered everywhere. By medicolegal examination the deceased was determined not to have ingested potassium cyanide, but to have inhaled vapoured hydrocyanic acid. A few hours before the notice of the incident his 46-year-old wife had lost her consciousness in the same room and had been transported to a hospital by ambulance. The patient exhibited severe metabolic acidosis, but recovered the consciousness a few hours after the admission. On EEG diffuse alpha-waves were observed for one and a half year. After the recovery she confessed that during the quarrel with her husband she had thrown a plastic bottle containing 500g potassium cyanide against the table with a view to threatening him.
